"Baywatch-like lifeguard service by white long sandy beach & shallow waters"
Skanör is the main beach in the Skanör –Falsterbo area. It is marketed as part of the Skåne Riviera and regarded as one of the most beautiful beaches in Sweden. There are several parking areas by the beach (fee in high season). It can however be difficult to find a spot if not arriving early. Thus, a good option is to take the bus or bike. The natural reserve the beach is part of holds a unique landscape. The vegetation is composed by a large number of rare species and there is an abundance of migrating birds. Inland lagoons are sheltered by the grassy sanddunes that lines Skanör beach. While at the beach it is easy to imagine being in the tropics. The turquoise-blue water is very shallow and clear over a white sandy bottom. The Baywatch-like lifesaving tower and lifeguards with 4-wheel drives add to the feeling of being somewhere else. The view of the Öresund bridge that connects Sweden to Denmark however, is a wonderful reminder that you are still in Scandinavia. Further reminders are the small colorful bath huts that line the beach in both its northern and southern end. In the northern, main, part of the beach there is a small harbor with stone piers and cafés serving fresh fish. Just north of the harbor is a nudist beach and dog beach.
