Sandvik beach is situated by a small community of the same name. It is located about 2 km from the main road. A small selection of shops and restaurants are found at a walking distance from the beach. The bathing area is limited in the north by rock groyns separating the beach from a small harbour while the southern end of the beach is natural. The often cold and clear water is lined by an inclined beach of slate pebbles and cobbles, vegetations is sparse. Some people prefer to sunbathe on the rocks lining the groyn. The sea bottom is covered by cobbles with an increasing share of sand with distance from the shore. Water near the beach is rather shallow but soon becomes deeper. Thus it can be suitable for both children playing in near shore waters and for those that wish to swim.
