Gropahålet dog bath is a 100 meter stretch of the very long sandy stretch that runs from Åhus in the north to Kivik in the south where dogs are allowed to enter the sea. The beach is situated just north of Gropahålet nudist beach. There is a toilet and the beaches share the same parking lot located some 300 meters from the water. The nearest beach with more amenities is Yngsjö havsbad located north of Gropahålet beaches. The water is shallow and the sandy bottom is soft and beautifully rippled by the calm waves. The beach is lined by grassy sand dunes and pinetrees. It is located in a natural reserve with the same name. It is one of the few areas along the coast that is not heavily impacted by human activities. There are several rare and threatened species of flora growing in the sand dunes.
Yngsjö havsbad is part of a very long sandy stretch (26 km) that runs all the way from Åhus in the north to Kivik in the south. There are several spots for swimming along it and Yngsjö havsbad is the most popular one with the largest number of amenities.
The beach at Yngsjö havsbad is quiet and the setting is natural. The beach is sloping towards the clear water and the water is slightly deeper compared to the beaches northwards such as Snickarhaken and Täppet. The water is shallow and the sandy bottom is soft and beautifully rippled by the calm waves. The beach is lined by grassy sand dunes. There are clear signs indicating the location of the beach from the main road. The beach is reached by Havsbadsvägen.
This coastline is part of what is called the Eel coast (“Ålakusten”). The fishing industry has been active here since the Stone Age. Some of the so called eel sheds are still still used today.
