"White sand with shallow waters - amber gemstones, sand castles & seals!"
Falsterbo beach is a popular destination in summertime. Several parking areas have access to the beach. In high season there is a fee for parking and it can be difficult to find a spot if not arriving early. A good option is to take the bus or bike. The walk from the main parking to the beach is rather long. Part of the path is paved and another part is composed by wooden boardwalk (there are at least 3 boardwalks leading down to the beach in different locations). The beach is part of a natural reserve that holds a unique landscape with a large number of rare species of flora and an abundance of migrating birds. The white, fine-grained, sandy beach is lined by grassy sand dunes and further inland broad-leaved trees. The water is very shallow and clear over a beautifully rippled sandy bottom. There is a pier that facilitates reaching deeper waters. It is located at some distance from the main beach area, close to Falsterbohus in the west. When we last visited this beach there was virtually no seaweed. We did encounter a few non-toxic/ non-stingy jellyfish. Although food and drinks are available by the beach it can be far to walk given its length. Bring water and something to provide shade. First aid kits can be found in the kiosks.
